The Sacrament of Baptism
The Sacrament of Baptism is the first of the three Sacraments of Initiation and is the first of the seven sacraments in the Catholic Church. Baptism removes the effects of Original Sin which taints all of humanity by Adam and Eve’s sin and welcomes the recipient into the Church, the Mystical Body of Christ on earth. At Epiphany of the Lord Parish, the Sacrament of Baptism is normally celebrated Sundays following Mass, except during the season of Lent.
Parents of a firstborn (including not yet born) attend a baptismal preparation session with Shellee Murcko, our Liturgical Coordinator. This session assists new parents in understanding the profound significance of Baptism, and the commitment and responsibility it requires. Because parents promise before God and the Church they will raise their child in the practice of the Catholic faith, they need to indicate their commitment by being registered parishioners, actively attending weekly Mass.
To inquire about Baptism at Epiphany of the Lord or to schedule a preparation session, please contact Shellee Murcko, Liturgical Coordinator at email@example.com or by telephone at (419) 698-1519.
