Lenten Penance Service

“The confession of evil works is the first beginning of good works.”
~ St. Augustine

Prepare your heart for Easter by receiving the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Father Gilbert and Father Melwin will be available for confessions on Thursday, April 2 from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. at St. Stephen.

We strongly urge all, however, to consider staying home during this time. If you have an urgent need for the sacrament, you are welcome to attend. St. Maximillian Kolbe once wrote that “whoever can, should receive the Sacrament of Penance. Whoever cannot, because of prohibiting circumstances, should cleanse his soul by acts of perfect contrition.” During this unprecedented time, we must trust in the infinite love and mercy of God. If you are unable to go to confession this Lent, we encourage you to pray an Act of Contrition.

If you will be attending this service, please only use the elevator entrance. All penitents should practice social distancing while in the church. If you are sick, please stay home.
