Ascension of the Lord
Dear Epiphany Family,
Thank you so much for your prayers for my procedure. It went well and my recovery has gone well but my complete healing will still take some time so please continue to pray for me. I still have to slow down for a few weeks even while I am back in the parish. Thanks again for your prayers.
This summer I will be blessed to host another seminarian in the rectory – Jacob Livecchi. Jacob will be doing his Clinical Pastoral Education at St. Vincent Hospital. He will be around the parish likely some weekends as his busy schedule allows. Jacob (he normally goes by “Jay”) is from the Oregon area and his family is at St. Ignatius. By the time you read this Jay will have just been ordained as a transitional deacon (May 20th) – congratulations and blessings to him and his family! Please welcome him warmly this summer.
I am blessed to be able to go on a short Mission Immersion trip with Catholic Extension this Tuesday through Thursday to Uvalde, Texas. Catholic Extension (you may have noticed their name on calendars from the parish) supports the Church throughout the country in areas where there is a small percentage of Catholics and also areas of greater need and poverty. Our group (which will include priests from around the country) will be in Uvalde for the one-year anniversary of the Robb Elementary shooting. As part of our experience we will attend a Mass with the Archbishop of San Antonio at Sacred Heart Parish and also visit Sacred Heart School, to which Catholic Extension has funded scholarships. I am grateful to Magdalena Skiles of the Christ the King Padre Pio Prayer Group who extended an invitation through her fundraising work via the Catholic Foresters on behalf of Catholic Extension. Please pray for the city, parish, and fruitfulness of this immersion experience. Thank you.
In Christ,
Father Eric
