Baptism of the Lord

Dear Epiphany Family,

Do you know the date of your baptism? A few years ago Pope Francis encouraged us to remember and celebrate the anniversaries of our baptisms. Baptism is the day of our rebirth and our new life in Christ, becoming members of His Body and temples of the Holy Spirit. This is our most important anniversary because it reminds us who we are as children of God, to Whom we belong, and that we are heirs to the Kingdom of Heaven as we continue to live in communion with Him.

Jesus allowed John the Baptist to baptize Him (even though it was not necessary) to make holy the waters of baptism for us and give us an example. He humbly united Himself to us by submitting to baptism. After Jesus’ baptism He began His public ministry. By virtue of our baptism we are called to holiness and to be missionaries for the Good News we find in Jesus Christ. May we all grow in the knowledge of God’s profound love for us in the person of Jesus Christ and become His witnesses of life, truth, love, and hope.

In Christ,
Father Eric
