Most Holy Trinity – Father’s Day

My dear friends in Christ,

This week we celebrate the Most Holy Trinity. The Holy Trinity is an expression of God as community and of unity. It is also a revelation of who God is and one of the most central mysteries of our faith. Jesus revealed to us that he has a Father (who is God) and He is the Son and the two are one. He also promised He would send us the advocate, (Holy Spirit), to be with us always. Scripture tells us that we receive the grace of our Lord Jesus, the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit. We could all spend some time on this special feast day reflecting on how we have experienced the love of God the Creator, the mercy of God the Son, and the faithfulness of the Holy Spirit in our lives.

We celebrate Father’s Day this weekend! We give you thanks Almighty God for our fathers on earth and in heaven. On this day we remember the many sacrifices fathers make for their children and families, and the ways both big and small they help children achieve their dreams. May our Heavenly Father bless our earthly fathers today and every day to anchor their families in faith. We also remember the many other men in our lives who have mentored us: teachers, relatives, priests, and neighbors whom we love like a father. It truly takes a village to raise a child!

We have exciting news for the entire parish! The new, updated and expanded parish website has launched and is available for you to use. I thank Irene Bland and the technology team for the immense amount of work and time they have put into this project. Their knowledge, skill, and training are key factors in the successful launch of the website and the parish app which will be coming soon. We have more interactive features on the website than ever before. Complete instructions and a more detailed description are on two pages in this bulletin.

Next week, June 22-23, on the Feast of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ we will commission and re-commission our extraordinary ministers of the Eucharist at all Masses. These ministers assist in distributing communion at Mass and to hospitals, nursing homes, and the homebound. You will be called forward for the commissioning during Mass. Thank you to all who dedicate themselves to this very special ministry.

Next weekend, the St. Anthony Society invites all parishioners aged 55 and up to attend this year’s Senior Prom. The Hawaiian -themed event will be held in the gymnasium at St. Thomas Aquinas campus, which will be transformed into a tropical paradise. Cocktails will be served at 5:30 pm and dinner at 6:00 pm. The live band “Night Sessions” will play for your dancing and listening pleasure from 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm. Call the parish office for reservations on Monday!

Mega Moolah Mania ticket sales are taking off. The first drawing will be on Friday, July 5. Purchase or sell your tickets before then so you don’t miss even one of the twelve drawings!

On the weekend of June 29-30, we will celebrate Saturday Mass at 4:00 pm at St. Thomas Aquinas and consolidate all the Masses on Sunday into one Mass at 10:30 am at St Thomas Aquinas. There will be a reception with finger foods and desserts after the Sunday Mass on June 30. Plan now to come and enjoy fellowship together as Epiphany of the Lord parishioners.

May we live in the generous love of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

Rev. Gilbert Mascarenhas SAC
