Feast of the Epiphany of the Lord

Dear Epiphany Parish Family,

Blessed Feast Day of the Epiphany of the Lord! The Epiphany is the revelation or
manifestation of “Jesus as Messiah of Israel, Son God and Savior of the
world’ (CCC 528). It celebrates not only the adoration of Jesus by the wise men,
but also his baptism in the Jordan and the wedding feast at Cana. Jesus
continues to reveal himself to us through the Church, the circumstances of our
lives and our world, even though it may be at times challenging to see. Yet Jesus
comes to be with us, show us his love, give us hope, and share in his life. Jesus is
with us now in the difficult time of transition in our parish with the relegation
(closing) and final Mass at Sacred Heart Church. He is with us as the Living
Stone, our Rock, our Foundation, our Life, our Everything. He invites us as
members of his Body, as living stones in him, to take refuge in him and allow our
joys, our sufferings, hopes, our very lives be built and taken up into him (cf.1 Peter
2:5) and his Sacred Heart.

Thank you to Bishop Daniel Thomas for being with his flock and celebrating the
final Mass at Sacred Heart. May the blood that pours out from the Sacred Heart
and made present in the Eucharist bring us strength, healing, consolation and fill
us with Christ’s own life.

This Sunday begins our new Sunday Mass schedule of 9:30 at our Genesee St.
campus, kicked off with our parish feast day celebration. Our new Mass schedule
is an opportunity to join more of our parish family together at once, worship God
more vibrantly, and gather more of our parish family together in fellowship after
Mass. It is also an invitation for us to put the Lord Jesus and his sacrifice in the
center of the Lord’s Day (and not mere convenience or preference). Jesus is
always inviting us to put him at the center of our hearts and lives to fill us with his
life, peace, strength, consolation, and hope. Our parish will become more alive as
each of us takes this invitation to heart and lives Jesus’ life through our lives. May
Jesus give us the courage to say “yes” to him each day and manifest his presence
to all around us. Let us continue to pray for our parish, our bishop, our diocese
and our universal Church.
