New Assignment
My dearest brothers and sisters in Christ,
It is with most sincere apologies that I must inform you of an upcoming decision affecting our parish with use of such an impersonal means of communication. Our current circumstances call for drastic measures and I am disheartened to be unable to deliver this news in person. It is with much sadness that I must inform you that I have been asked to accept an assignment to fill the sudden vacancy as the Director of St. Vincent Pallotti College, Bangalore in India.
This request came through my Provincial Superior in Bangalore, India. Since I had already served as Director in one of our educational institutions prior to my coming into USA, it was with great concern for the needs of our Province that I have accepted this proposal. My new assignment will begin June 2020.
It is with deepest regret and concern that I must inform you of this decision. Please know that I am grateful for your support and friendship over the years as your Associate Pastor and, most recently, as your Pastor. I am also grateful to the parishioners of St. Mary, Norwalk and St. Anthony, Milan for your friendship and care. I will always have a great love and admiration for you and Epiphany of the Lord Parish. My deepest gratitude goes to Bishop Thomas and my brother priests in the Diocese of Toledo. They have been supportive and extended gracious hospitality during my time here. I will hold you all fondly in my thoughts and prayers and you will always remain close to my heart until we meet again.
Be assured that Bishop Thomas will be prayerfully discerning a new pastor for Epiphany of the Lord. Once I am informed of that and the information is ready to be released, I will share that news with all of you. I prayerfully request that you welcome your new Pastor with the same warmth and kindness that you had afforded me. Additionally, I ask that you support and encourage him as you have me over the years, remembering that it is the one Lord that we serve together forever.
Let us continue to pray for all impacted by the pandemic. You are not alone; God is with you. Draw closer to him and receive his peace.
In Christ,
Fr. Gilbert Mascarenhas, SAC
