Ascension of the Lord

My Dear Friends in Christ, 

Today we celebrate the Ascension of the Lord. Before he ascends to his Father in heaven, Jesus gives the disciples authority and sends them on a mission, the mission of the Church; to preach, to teach, to love, and to serve. God calls all of us to this mission, to allow the Holy Spirit to enter into our lives, to say “YES” to His call, and be witness to His great love and mercy. Jesus once again assures us that we will not be alone after His departure… “Behold I am with you always until the end of age.” Let us be open to the opportunity to witness to the Lord in our daily life. 

I would like to congratulate Kelsey Weigand and Paolo Guarisco who were married on Saturday, May 25 from our parish. Please keep Kelsey and Paolo in your prayers as they begin their life together in Christ. 

If you have sent a contribution to the Annual Catholic Appeal, I thank you. We are currently at 54.5% of our goal, with 156 families responding. If you have not yet contributed to the Annual Catholic Appeal, I ask that you prayerfully consider what gift you can make to help support the work of the Diocese. The Diocese provides much support to the young men in the seminaries and to a number of ministries and outreach projects throughout Northwest Ohio. If everyone in the parish gives a little, it will add up to be great support. Consider sending your gift today. 

Please remember that this is the first weekend for the 4:00 pm Saturday Mass to be held at St. Thomas Aquinas campus. We will celebrate Mass on Saturdays at St. Thomas Aquinas through the end of September. Also, the Tuesday Mass at 8:30 will now be at Sacred Heart until school resumes in the Fall. 

Fr. Melwin and I enjoyed the briefly warm weather last week, we are looking forward to more of it someday.
