STATEMENT FROM DIOCESE OF TOLEDO
The Diocese of Toledo previously communicated information concerning a report against Rev. John Peter Lazaar involving a student. As then noted, despite grossly inaccurate social media posts to the contrary, video evidence unequivocably demonstrated that the allegation was patently false. On April 1, 2026, Lucas County Children Services issued its final disposition concluding that the allegation was unsubstantiated. On April 8, 2026, the Oregon Police Department advised that it had likewise determined that no further investigation into the matter was warranted.
We are most grateful that this process is concluded. The virtue of justice requires that as victims of misconduct must be supported to come forward, so too must those who are wrongly
accused be supported in the event of a baseless allegation.
